Tomorrow’s Brains

Came across this article and these intriguing… haunting images.

I’ve been meditating on this…

This is what the everyday brains of tomorrow will look like… Is it a coincidence that they appear almost organic in nature?

Is this pareidolia or a system that extends through the natural world, through us, and into that which we create….

I look forward to reading your thoughts in the comments…

I’ve included two links, an article in Futurism as well as the blog at Graphcore where these images originated…

“AI Brain Scans” Reveal How Synthetic Intelligence Think

In Brief Graphcore has produce a series of images that show what it looks like when its development chip runs various AI software, such as Microsoft Research’s ResNet-34 architecture. Looking at these images is similar to looking at a scan from a brain to see how it works as both processes involve connections between different parts of a system.

Inside an AI ‘brain’ – What does machine learning look like?

One aspect all recent machine learning frameworks have in common – TensorFlow, MxNet, Caffe, Theano, Torch and others – is that they use the concept of a computational graph as a powerful abstraction. A graph is simply the best way to describe the models you create in a machine learning system.
